In the state of Florida, a home must be zoned for short-term rental by the county in which it is located, in order for it to be leased on a nightly or weekly basis. The shortest minimum lease term for a property that is not zoned for short-term rental is more than six months. Most homes are zoned for short-term rental prior to their construction.
