Orlando Real Estate - Take a Ride On The Train – Great Day Trip October 13th, 2009 9:31 PM Opened in 1910 the Kissimmee Train Station is a great place to get some nostalgia and have fun with a day trip. 1910...that is.... 98 years old. “The Kissimmee Amtrak station is a train station in Kissimmee, Florida, United States served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Kissimmee station was originally built as an Atlantic Coast Line Depot in 1910” Go from Kissimmee to Winter Park (close to Park Avenue) for about $6.50 each way for coach seating. Round trip is $13.00. With the AAA discount it would be $11.70 for an adult. (for an additional $72 you can get a bedroom. These have private toilets and changing rooms and showers). The sleeping room prices are per room not per person. They offer additional discounts (and they combine discounts): Children ages 0-2 FREE Children ages 2-15 50% off or $3.25 Senior Discount (age 62+) 15% off or $4.88 AAA Discount 10% off or $5.85 AAA Children ages 2-15 an additional 10% (so a total of 60% off) or $2.60 Great as a couples trip, family trip, girls day out trip, or .... The train ride is about an hour and dumps you off one block away from Park Avenue. They have a Dining car and a Lounge car for your enjoyment. Go in the morning and return late afternoon. Bikes are limited so you need to check when buying your tickets asto availablility. It does not appear that there is an extra charge for this. Ride the Train to Winter Park….bike around the Park Square area…have lunch at one of the quaint restaurants…. and/or do some shopping…….or there's a terrific wine and cheese sampling shop there (you don't have to worry about driving home), and return home.
